The FEAR(s) of The Traitor!

November 13th, 2024 — will be the 60th Anniversary of the — Friday, November 13th, 1964 — death of my father. I was 13 years old then.

I had insecure attachment issues with both of my parents. My father was never “there” when I wanted him to be there! He had definite limitations- valuing his work as a mathematics professor far more than being with my brother and me — when we wanted meaningful time with him.

For all my father’s faults, he was Anti-Racist, believed in Social Justice and he taught his two sons to think for ourselves. We were challenged to speak up, to read and learn (at least intellectually).

I try to deepen my connection with the Positive values I admire, from nearly 60 years ago.

About 12 Years Ago

“George, you only care about Racism because your wife is Black” — said a fellow classmate for or five years ago at lunch together in Downtown Chicago. Never mind that our family marched around the Tippecanoe County Courthouse in Lafayette, Indiana in a Civil Rights march 62 or 63 years ago. I didn’t waste my time — responding to the classmate then. He couldn’t and wouldn’t have really listened to me.

Since October 7, 2023 — I’ve been physically threatened once, called a “self-hating Jew” both in person and in writing, called a “Nazi”, as well as minimized/ridiculed in…
