I do not understand why you seem to indicate that you have somehow “ended” or grown out of your racism???? Yes, you became anti-racist. Racism is systemic — not “personal”. You are still white. I’ve been the only white member of my African-American predominant family since 2003. I’m not somehow “cured” of growing up and living as a white person in a racist society. We can be both: “anti-racist” and still be “racist”. I don’t give up my white and male privilege — when I step outside of my condo in Chicago, nor do I give it up at home. We have work to do within our families and beyond them trying to help end racism (and sexism as well as homophobia and classism and much more). Thanks!
