I agree with your basic premise related to us as white people, similar in part to what I read in a previous writing of yours about us as men (related to women). I agree that we need to learn from Black People as we as men need to learn from women. I don’t hear you speaking of how we as white people, and particularly as white men, need to work with other white men confronting our racism and sexism with each other, while being accountable to Men of Color, Women of Color and white women. Until and unless we take responsibility for our privilege and both our sexism and racism, we can comfortably remain with our privilege, forcing those who lack privilege to do all the work that we should be doing. Yes, I should have Black friends and allies (though I’m the only white member of my immediately family, hence I have ties in this case to Black People), but I should not rely primarily upon Black Women and Men to educate me and confront my racism (and sexism). I’m trying in working with Organizing White Men for Collective Liberation and in other parts of my life. I hope that you, also, are doing things important to you in similar areas. Thank You!
